San Jose, CAC June 1, 2001. . . - Atmel Corporation
(NASDAQ: ATML) released today, in a joint announcement with IVT,
the two companies have agreed to work together to offer total
Bluetooth solutions.Atmel and IVT have signed an Agreement that
allows Atmel to market and sell IVT Bluetooth stacks and profiles
that run on top of Atmel's Bluetooth V1.1 certified
baseband.
IVT currently offers Bluetooth Host Protocol Stack ,
and all the Bluetooth User Profiles running on top of the Atmel
baseband. IVT Bluetooth protocol stacks and profiles have very
small code size, and can be further integrated with Atmel baseband
onto a single chip. This is extremely attractive for customers
developing embedded applications because it allows the elimination
of the host processor.
Dr. Qiang GAO, IVT CEO said, "We are very pleased to work
closely with Atmel in the Bluetooth arena. With IVT Europe, IVT
USA and our R&D center in Asia, we are well placed to support
our customer base globally. After considerable testing by both IVT
and Atmel, the IVT Bluetooth Stack is running well in conjunction
with Atmel's Bluetooth Module. With the addition of the first
commercially released Conformance and Interoperability Tester, IVT
can offer Atmel's customers a turn-key solution of stacks,
profiles, and tester"
Richard Bisset, Atmel's Product Marketing Director further
commented, "Working with IVT now allows Atmel to offer our
customers a complete Bluetooth solution. What is especially
attractive is our customers can design in an Atmel based solution
today and be in the market in a very short time. Based on our
recently 1.1 certified baseband, a 1.1 certified RF transceiver
from Silicon Wave and software from IVT, Atmel has a very powerful
solution."
