October 20, 2004 – IVT
Corporation, a leading provider of Bluetooth software, announces
that it is offering a Free License of the Bluetooth Profile
Tester System (PTS), “BlueSoleil-PTS” (previously
called “BlueTester”), to all Bluetooth SIG members,
in order to improve product interoperability within the Bluetooth
industry and to reduce Bluetooth Qualification Costs.
IVT BlueSoleil™-PTS has been developed based on the latest
Bluetooth SIG Test Specification. It consists of a host protocol
stack conformance tester, a profile interoperability tester,
a test plan generator, a test report generator and a test
script editor. With its friendly Graphical User Interface
(GUI) based on Message Sequence Charts (MSC), BlueSoleil-PTS
reduces the difficulties of formal test case specification
languages, such as TTCN, and hides the complexity of conformance
and interoperability testing. Historically, Bluetooth Profile
Test Systems have been highly priced, which has been prohibitive
for some companies. This paradigm shift now makes Bluetooth
Profile testing Systems available to all Bluetooth SIG Member
companies. IVT has been working with a number of BQB’s
and BQTF to help validate this tester, in particular RFI Global
Services Ltd and Cetecom Inc.
IVT BlueSoleil™-PTS includes the following conformance and
interoperability testers:
1. L2CAP, SDP, RFCOMM, GAP, SPP, BNEP, BIP, PAN, AVCTP, and
AVDTP conformance testers; and
2. Dial-up Networking, Headset, Handsfree, File Transfer,
Object Push, Basic Image, Synchronization, GAVDP, A2DP, AVRCP,
HCRP and PAN profile interoperability testers.
IVT is currently in the process of adding additional profile
interoperability testers for CTP, ICP, SIM, BPP and HID profiles
Bluetooth SIG members can send an email to the BlueSoleil
support team
at the email address below to obtain their free license.
mailto:support@ivtcorporation.com
The free license offered does not include technical support,
test report generator or script editor functionality. IVT
offers three levels of support as follows:
Level-1. US$ 5,000 per seat, to be paid
upfront for annual support and maintenance.
At this level IVT enables the PTS test report generator function,
provides on-line real-time support on how to use the tool,
using Microsoft MSN and provides hot line telephone support
during Beijing normal business hours. IVT plans to extend
its real-time support to 24 hours worldwide as business develops.
IVT will help to analyse users trace data if a test case
fails. IVT also offers free training in its Beijing R&D
centre. Licensees can get a 15% discount on BQB services from
RFI Global Services Limited, if they have a test report generated
from BlueSoleil-PTS.
Level-2. US$ 10,000 per seat annual fee,
which enables the test script editor functionality.
This level allows a licensee to add its own test cases. Level-2
support includes level -1 support.
Level-3. Customisation and integration of
BlueSoleil-PTS with licensee's existing test system.
This service is charged on an individual basis. Level-3 includes
all Level-2 support.
Steve Flooks from RFI Global Services Ltd. commented,
“RFI has been working with IVT for the last three years
to develop the BlueSoleil-PTS. RFI immediately saw the potential
of the PTS system and how valuable it was for customers to
be able to demonstrate interoperability. RFI has been validating
the PTS tester for IVT and has used the system for many Bluetooth
interoperability tests. The BlueSoleil-PTS is a very mature
test system and extremely easy to use. As a BQB, I have been
very happy using test reports from the PTS system as part
of compliance folder reviews. IVT’s move to make the
PTS system available to the Bluetooth community is a major
step forward in improving interoperability”.
Siegfried Lehmann from CETECOM Inc. commented,
“CETECOM Inc. has been an IVT BlueSoleil-PTS licensee
since 2003. CETECOM enjoys using BlueSoleil-PTS, particularly
its friendly MSC-based GUI. It is an excellent tool for addressing
Bluetooth interoperability testing."
Bluetooth product developers can use the tester in the early
design phase to improve interoperability and to produce test
reports and evidence of successfully run test cases for Bluetooth
qualification review. Bluetooth product buyers can use the
tester to check the interoperability features of products
they would like to buy; and test houses like CETECOM Inc.
can use the tester to verify the products during Bluetooth
qualification testing.
Eric Kaplan President of Frontline Test Equipment Inc. commented,
"This past June, I visited IVT’s development labs
and was very impressed with the depth and breadth of their
Bluetooth knowledge and products. IVT is extremely well positioned
to deliver an outstanding Profile Test System and, most importantly,
to keep it up-to-date as specs change and new profiles get
added. Frontline is looking forward to supporting BlueSoleil-PTS."
Dr. Qiang Gao, CEO of IVT, further commented, “ We
are committed to supporting our licensees in improving the
interoperability of their Bluetooth products. We will continue
to strive for further improvements in our Tester.
